Oprah Winfrey Adds G700 to Private Jet Fleet of Five
Oprah Winfrey has owned five private planes and added a Gulfstream G700 in 2025. Her first was a Gulfstream IV bought in 1991 for around $20 million. Per Aero Corner, a four-hour delay at Chicago O'Hare pushed her toward private aviation. She upgraded to a Bombardier Global Express XRS in the early 2000s, paid around $61 million for a Gulfstream G550 in 2013, switched to a Gulfstream G650ER in 2016, then added the G700. All carried the N540W tail number. The Global Express XRS was produced in Canada between 2005 and 2012 and featured the quietest cabin in the industry at the time. It can fly roughly 6,000 nautical miles (over 11,000 km) nonstop at Mach 0.85, hold cabin altitude at 4,500 ft at high cruise, and carry 12+ passengers. A wire summary describes her private-jet use as a way to protect privacy, avoid commercial-airline delays, and accommodate work while traveling.
