Paul Seixas wins youngest-ever Il Lombardia
Paul Seixas of Decathlon CMA CGM won the 120th Il Lombardia on October 10, 2026, becoming at 20 years and 16 days the youngest winner since the race began in 1905. He went clear on the Civiglio climb with roughly 19 to 20 kilometers remaining, dropped Remco Evenepoel, Isaac del Toro, Tom Pidcock and Giulio Ciccone, and soloed into Como. He covered the 239 km from Bergamo in 5h49'28" (41.033 km/h), 48 seconds ahead of Enric Mas, with Ciccone third at 1'05", Evenepoel fourth at 1'20", and Brandon McNulty fifth. It was the team’s first Monument. Pogačar, five-time defending champion, was absent injured. Seixas bit the trophy and shared the podium with Mas and Ciccone. Seconds after the line he said the day felt like a dream, teammates had pushed beyond what they had to, and he attacked when the rhythm felt too low, believing in the win by the last climb. The result capped a 2026 season that included fourth at the Tour de France on debut, the Tour of the Basque Country GC plus three stages, La Flèche Wallonne as its youngest winner at 19, and second behind Pogačar at Strade Bianche and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Sources differ on whether the decisive move came with about 19 km or about 20 km left. Le Monde cast him as a French prodigy; no right-rated coverage was found.
