Phoenix, Naples Seek 2028 Olympic Torch Stops
The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic torch relay is planned to travel through all 50 states for the first time, after the flame is lit in Greece. Phoenix has expressed interest in joining the route, with Mayor Kate Gallego welcoming the possibility. Naples is also taking preliminary steps to host a stop and serve as a “Cauldron City,” where the day’s final torchbearer would light a ceremonial cauldron; the city council authorized staff to seek a one-day event insurance policy costing no more than $5,000. If selected, Naples would host a three-to-four-mile segment, while route details are expected in 2027.
