Poland Detains 76, Checks 50,000 Schools After Attacks

Polish police say they have inspected nearly 50,000 educational institutions and detained 76 people amid a nationwide security operation following two school knife attacks and reports of possible further violence. The attacks in the central Mazovian region left a school employee dead and several others wounded; police also detained a teenager over threats of an attack at a school in Sierpc. Officers recorded 231 suspected-offense incidents, are monitoring online threats and patrolling schools, while some schools temporarily suspended classes or tightened entry procedures.
