Musk Donates Over $276 Million to Republicans
Elon Musk donated more than $276 million to Republican political groups and his America PAC from July through September, bringing his reported 2025–26 election-cycle contributions to about $366 million and making him the largest known donor in the midterms. His donations included $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, more than $76 million to America PAC, and millions to groups backing Texas candidate Ken Paxton and Republican governors and attorneys general. The Senate Leadership Fund’s third-quarter haul from Musk exceeded the $151 million raised by its Democratic counterpart. America PAC is organizing voter outreach, including nearly 3,000 canvassers, across competitive Senate and House races; its spending has focused on battleground contests, particularly Texas, and has favored attacking Democrats over supporting Republicans. The donations mark a renewed political push despite Musk previously saying he would scale back, following his prominent support for Donald Trump in 2024 and subsequent public falling-out and reconciliation with the president; America PAC spent far more overall in 2024, with most of its resources directed to the presidential race.
