North Dakota Farm Bureau Plans Statewide Policy Meeting

Farm Bureau activity across the region includes local meetings recognizing farm families and shaping policy. Craighead County’s bureau named cattle farmers Mark and Kim Huffman its Farm Family of the Year, while Montana’s Dawson-Wibaux County bureau advanced four member proposals on technology and data centers, livestock branding laws and environmental controls to the state level. North Dakota’s Farm Bureau plans its annual meeting Nov. 20-21, where delegates will debate member-originated resolutions, set policy and elect leaders. Separately, Democratic challenger Vern Thompson criticized North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring after a records request showed four farmer meetings and eight lobbyist meetings on the commissioner’s calendar over a year; Goehring said the calendar did not capture all his meetings and that he also speaks with people by phone and travels statewide.
