Power to People Festival Plans Free Online Livestream

Tom Morello’s Power to the People festival will stream free on YouTube on Saturday, Oct. 3, from Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. The one-day event, billed as a celebration of music, peace, justice and community action, features a wide-ranging lineup including Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Dropkick Murphys and Jack Black’s young-musician collective. Attendees can also visit Freedom Village, where nonprofit and community groups will share civic-engagement and social-impact opportunities. A portion of ticket proceeds and all net VIP-ticket proceeds will benefit VoteRiders and HeadCount, which will help attendees learn about voting and voter registration. The festival follows Morello’s recent Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance of “Soldier in the Army of Love,” which he played with his son Roman; the song appears on Morello’s new solo album.
