PowerCompute Boosts Mississippi Data Center to 11 MW

PowerCompute’s subsidiary signed a new contract with Columbus Light and Water that increases contracted power at its Columbus, Mississippi, data center from 8.5 megawatts to 11 megawatts, with service continuing uninterrupted. The deal places the site on the utility’s Large Data Service rate, sets the subsidiary’s share of utility capital costs at zero, and avoids capacity commitment charges on the contracted power; a $300,000 deposit is being returned for planned site expansion. The contract runs through September 2030, with a possible five-year renewal by mutual agreement, and supports the company’s Bitcoin mining and planned high-performance computing operations. The arrangement’s economics could change if utility rates or the site’s tariff classification change, while analysts cited in coverage also point to PowerCompute’s weak financial performance and liquidity and execution risks.
