Pumpkin Events Benefit Charities Across Communities

Several fall events are combining pumpkin-season activities with community fundraising. In Lamoine, Maine, the Howl-O-Run 5K invites people and leashed dogs to run or walk in costume, with proceeds supporting the SPCA of Hancock County; Hewitt, Wisconsin’s Pumpkin Fun Run/Walk includes a 5K and children’s race benefiting the local volunteer fire department. Wilmington’s Pumpkins and Purrs fundraiser will feature adoptable cats, a pumpkin patch and local vendors to support All4Cats, while a two-day pumpkin display in County Kildare will direct all funds raised to autism awareness. In Manchester, Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run offered a seasonal 5K, including a challenge to carry a pumpkin, and donated registration proceeds to Girls on the Run.
