Raytheon Wins Navy Radar Detection Contract
Raytheon, an RTX business, received an Office of Naval Research contract to develop software-based upgrades that aim to improve naval radar detection range, sensitivity and efficiency. The technology will be tested before potential use in the SPY-6 radar family and other future systems, with work in Rhode Island and Massachusetts planned through 2031. Separately, Raytheon won a multiyear contract worth up to $6.3 billion to produce Standard Missile-3 Block IB interceptors, with work planned in Tucson and Huntsville; the interceptors are used in ship- and land-based ballistic missile defense systems.
