Sanofi pays Regeneron $1 billion upfront to expand immunology alliance

Sanofi and Regeneron are expanding their immunology alliance to develop and commercialize four Regeneron-invented, long-acting antibodies targeting type 2 inflammation, extending their collaboration beyond Dupixent. The lead candidate, REGN20423, is a Phase 1 IL-13 antibody being studied for atopic dermatitis; the other programs target IL-4, IL-4 receptor alpha, and IL-4 and IL-13 together. Regeneron will receive $1 billion upfront and could earn up to $7 billion in development, regulatory, and commercial milestones. The companies will share development and commercialization costs equally and split profits from any new products 50-50, while leaving their existing Dupixent arrangement unchanged. The expanded pipeline is intended to help the partners build on Dupixent’s success and prepare for the years ahead as the drug approaches patent expiry in the 2030s.
