Restaurants Reopen; Others Plan Return
Several businesses are reopening or preparing to return after fires, inspections and sudden closures. In Lexington, North Carolina, Christo’s Original has reopened after being rebuilt following a May fire that also destroyed another business and led to a lengthy North Main Street closure. Kansas City’s Em Chamas Brazilian steakhouse is working toward reopening after a fire and firefighting water caused extensive damage, with repairs expected to take months and the owner concerned about keeping nearly 40 employees working. In Lexington, Kentucky, Kung Fu Noodle reopened after a health department closure over persistent food-safety and sanitation violations; two other inspected businesses mentioned in the report also reopened. Northampton’s Mail Coach pub says it will return after closing suddenly in July, while Lexington’s Miyako Sushi & Grill has reopened after fire repairs and remodeling delayed in part by an insurance payment wait.
