Bull elk shatters car windows during fall rut in Colorado and Canada

During Colorado’s fall elk rut, a bull known locally as “Crash” or “Smash” charged a Honda idling near an Estes Park golf course and shattered its rear passenger-side window before returning to a group of females. The encounter was captured on video, and officials and local tourism guidance warn that bulls can behave unpredictably and aggressively while competing for mates, urging visitors to keep their distance. A separate incident in Lake Cowichan, British Columbia, also involved a rutting bull: security footage showed it chasing a female, bounding onto a parked car and breaking its windshield before running off.
