Monangai Leads Bears Past Jets 23-12
The Chicago Bears beat the New York Jets 23-12, controlling possession for 42:45 and running 89 plays without punting. Kyle Monangai rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries as Chicago piled up 232 rushing yards; he took on a larger role after D’Andre Swift was benched following a fumble. The Bears held New York to 157 yards and seven first downs, went 3-for-3 on sacks, and stopped the Jets on all seven third-down attempts, twice limiting them to field goals after turnovers gave them short fields. New York’s offense was hampered by injuries, including the absence of Breece Hall and several other starters; Minkah Fitzpatrick returned for the Jets, while Chicago had placed left tackle Braxton Jones on injured reserve. Bears coach Ben Johnson said missed scoring chances and turnovers remain areas to address, while Jets coach Aaron Glenn and players said the loss would not define their season.
