Klay Thompson Goes Scoreless in Heat Preseason Debut
Klay Thompson went scoreless in 13 minutes as the Miami Heat opened preseason with a 129-105 win over Toronto; Giannis Antetokounmpo had seven assists in limited minutes. Thompson said Antetokounmpo’s support after he scored 38 points in his 2022 return from a lengthy injury absence helped him believe he could be a great player again, and the two are now teammates. Thompson has said he wants to contribute defensively, while fans questioned his performance and athleticism after the opener. He has praised rookie Ryan Conwell’s shooting, defense and conditioning after the second-round pick impressed at training camp. Thompson has also smoothed things over with teammate Myron Gardner, who taunted him from the Heat bench when Thompson played for Dallas.
