NBA Preseason Debuts Showcase Emerging Rotation Roles
NBA preseason games offered early looks at player roles and fantasy potential. Golden State guard Brandon Williams scored 17 points with four assists in a start, while Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards bounced back from a poor three-point outing by scoring 19 first-half points and hitting four of five threes. Charlotte’s Naz Reid put up 13 points and four rebounds in his team debut while filling a starting power-forward role. Detroit’s Isaiah Joe came off the bench for seven points, with a potential larger role dependent in part on the team’s need for shooting and Duncan Robinson’s performance. Detroit also offered an early preseason look at John Collins as a small-ball center and Ausar Thompson playing point guard.
