UNC’s Kaleb Cost Hits Wall, Tosses Helmet Into Stands

During North Carolina’s game at No. 25 Pittsburgh, Tar Heels defensive back Kaleb Cost collided with a concrete end-zone wall and then tossed his helmet into the stands, where it narrowly missed a spectator. Medical staff checked Cost and helped him off the field; his injury was not immediately known, and the spectator was escorted from the stands. The incident occurred as 2-2 UNC faced undefeated Pitt, which was without starting quarterback Mason Heintschel after he tore an ACL. UNC entered the game after a 37-26 loss to No. 3 Notre Dame, while Pitt had rallied to beat Virginia Tech.
