VA Awards $16 Million for Veterans’ Adaptive Sports
The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded $16 million in grants to 91 community organizations nationwide to expand adaptive sports programs for veterans and active-duty service members with disabilities. The programs use recreational and competitive activities to support rehabilitation, health, independence and social connection. In regional awards, two Virginia organizations received $114,455, three Montana organizations received more than $390,000, and one Wyoming organization received about $71,762. Since creating its Adaptive Sports Grant Program, the VA has awarded more than $150 million to broaden access to these activities.
