Springfield Dirt Bike Arrest Leaves Officer Injured
A Springfield police officer suffered minor injuries during an attempted arrest of 28-year-old Chamil Guadarrama, who police say nearly struck a pedestrian with a dirt bike and drove toward the officer on Carew Street. Police allege Guadarrama punched the officer and hit him with a motorcycle helmet after two other suspects intervened; one fled on the dirt bike, and the other allegedly tried to choke the officer before being tased and escaping in a vehicle. Guadarrama was arrested and faces charges including assault and battery on a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and multiple motor-vehicle violations.
