Sweden’s Andersson Fails to Form Government
Sweden’s Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson has again failed to form a government, extending the deadlock after the center-left bloc narrowly won the September election, 176 seats to 173 for the right-wing bloc. Talks broke down over the Centre Party’s opposition to giving cabinet posts to the Left Party, which says it will support only a government it joins. Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlén is expected to hold a vote on Andersson’s candidacy, which she is likely to lose; he may then ask caretaker Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to try to form a government.
