Syracuse rallies to beat UConn 42-41 after blowing 20-point lead
Amari Odom ran in the game-winning two-point conversion after his fifth touchdown pass as Syracuse beat UConn 42-41 in overtime. In his first start at quarterback, Odom accounted for six touchdowns, five passing and one rushing, threw for 335 yards on 27 of 37 attempts, and had two interceptions. Syracuse built a 20-point lead at 34-14 before UConn scored 27 consecutive points. Cyncir Bowers' 71-yard touchdown run tied the game at 34 with 11:52 remaining. In overtime Kalieb Osborne's touchdown pass to Trey Cornist put UConn ahead 41-34. Odom then found Umari Hatcher for a touchdown that cut the lead to one; a roughing-the-passer penalty led Syracuse to go for two instead of the kick, and Odom scored the conversion. Earlier, Odom threw a touchdown pass to Hatcher on the first drive, with the extra point blocked. Osborne's touchdown pass to Cam Abshire made it 7-6. Jack O'Connor missed a 40-yard field goal off the upright. Deep completions from Odom to David Clement and Cole Weaver set up a Noah Meyers touchdown. Contested: none found.
