Three Polish School Attacks Leave One Dead
Three attacks at educational institutions in Poland over four days left a school employee dead and several people injured, including children. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the incidents appeared to be spontaneous rather than part of a large organized plot, while warning that online glorification of violence and imitation may be influencing attacks; he also cited increased interest in Nazi material and mass killers, and said some detainees had ties to far-right circles. Police detained 117 people for possessing dangerous weapons or making threats and checked about 64,000 schools as authorities investigated the attacks and possible threats. Rumors of further attacks associated with an online “Bloody Friday” challenge prompted some schools to suspend classes, while officials examined whether the incidents were connected.
