Thunder Open Rookie Extension Talks With Wallace Around $25 Million
The Oklahoma City Thunder and guard Cason Wallace have reportedly opened rookie-extension negotiations around $25 million per year, with Wallace’s camp said to be seeking more. If no agreement is reached by the October 19 deadline, he could enter restricted free agency in 2027, when other teams may offer more than $30 million annually. Wallace’s strong perimeter defense, including an All-Defensive Second Team selection, and his expected larger role after the Thunder’s offseason departures of Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins strengthen his negotiating position. Oklahoma City must weigh that value against the long-term cost of its commitments to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams.
