Tony Romo, CBS Reportedly Settle $72M Contract
Tony Romo and CBS Sports have mutually agreed to part ways, ending his tenure as the network’s lead NFL analyst. The split followed Romo’s July arrest on an operating-while-intoxicated charge; he later pleaded no contest, and his driving privileges were revoked for six months. Reports say CBS had concerns about his preparation and performance before the arrest, which may have accelerated the decision. The sides reached a settlement on the remaining four years and $72 million of his contract, but the amount Romo will receive has not been disclosed. J.J. Watt will continue alongside Jim Nantz in CBS’s top NFL booth, while Romo says he plans to take a break and focus on his health and family.
