One dead, Six Flags Goliath evacuated
One person died Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, just before 4 p.m. in an incident on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia near Atlanta. Cobb County Police said several people were injured and one died; the Major Crimes Unit is investigating. The coaster stopped with cars stranded on an incline, riders were evacuated four at a time via emergency stairway, and the park closed for the day. Witnesses told WXIA a man fell from the ride and hit parts of it multiple times. One said, "He fell and hit the car three different times." Logan Conner said the man detached from his seat and "started levitating in the air sideways" as they "made direct eye contact with him." A witness said the man had sat with a child and blood ended up on their vehicle. Authorities have not confirmed the cause. Coverage varies between several and four injured. Six Flags said it is deeply saddened, is supporting those affected, and is cooperating while withholding further details for the family's privacy. Mableton Mayor Michael Owens issued condolences and said Public Safety Director Dr. Kerry Stallings is coordinating with police and park security. Goliath opened in 2006 and reaches 200 feet.
