Tree-Planting Efforts Span US Cities
Communities in Rochester, Park City, Milwaukee and St. Louis are expanding tree cover through volunteer plantings and public programs. In Rochester, more than 80 residents planted about 100 trees in Badger Ridge as part of RNeighbors’ ongoing effort to fill tree gaps across the city. At Utah’s Swaner Preserve, an Oct. 14 planting along East Canyon Creek will add trees and willows to improve wildlife habitat, stabilize streambanks and keep water cool. Milwaukee residents can request city trees for public green spaces or seek Urban Forestry Fund support for projects planting 10 to 50 trees on private property, with priority given to areas most in need. St. Louis Place Park will host a Nov. 14 volunteer planting of native trees, with staff on hand to guide participants.
