Trump jokes about examining Senator Husted

President Donald Trump drew laughter at a Youngstown rally when he said he examined Sen. Jon Husted’s physique to confirm the Ohio Republican was a great athlete, after learning Husted had been an All-American defensive back on the University of Dayton’s 1989 Division III championship team. Trump credited former NFL coach Jon Gruden with telling him about Husted’s football history and used the event to urge support for Husted and Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Husted is facing Democrat Sherrod Brown in a closely contested Senate race, and Trump attacked Brown while warning that Democratic control would harm Ohio.
