UEFA hands Ethan Mbappé three-game Champions League ban
UEFA's disciplinary committee on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, handed Lille midfielder Ethan Mbappé a three-match Champions League suspension. The 19-year-old was sent off with a straight red card for elbowing Real Betis defender Natan during Lille's 3-2 loss three weeks earlier. The charge was assaulting another player after video review showed the elbow; Natan had appeared to say something while passing behind him. The ban hit on only his third career Champions League appearance. His previous two came in the 2024-25 season, a 6-1 win over Feyenoord and a 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund. Ethan Mbappé is the younger brother of Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé. He will miss the away trip to Arsenal on Oct. 13, a home match against Galatasaray, and an away game at Bodø/Glimt, and is eligible to return Nov. 25 when Lille hosts Bayern Munich at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
