US Campuses Debate Conservative Discourse
Universities are confronting questions about religious presence, political representation and open debate on campus. At the University of Arkansas, roughly 500 Ten Commandments posters remain displayed under an Arkansas law, while some students say the displays and frequent Christian outreach make campus feel less welcoming to other beliefs. Turning Point USA’s “America: Love It or Leave It” tour is bringing Donald Trump Jr. and other conservative speakers to the University of Iowa for a campus discussion. At Harvard, an editorial argues that the small share of conservative faculty warrants attention but cautions against treating viewpoint diversity as simple partisan hiring. A Brown student likewise criticizes the rejection of a TPUSA chapter, arguing that colleges should make room for conservative discourse even when students oppose the group’s views.
