US Wildlife Sites Welcome Visitors

Several articles highlight family-friendly ways to experience animals and the outdoors. In Ohio, the Montpelier Wildlife Habitat’s fall open house offers hayrides, pumpkin painting, nature walks, fishing and archery activities, and a photo contest, while showcasing habitat improvements at a reclaimed mining site. Hope Ranch Zoo in Guyton, Georgia, has opened to general admission, offering close-up encounters with more than 175 animals and hundreds of birds. A separate guide points to New York farms and animal sanctuaries where visitors can meet animals for free. Near St. Louis, Missouri’s Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center combines free wildlife exhibits and hands-on activities with an indoor treehouse and paved forest trails.
