VDOT Releases Updated Statewide Map for Fall Travel
Virginia is promoting fall road trips to destinations including the Blue Ridge Mountains, orchards, festivals and historic sites marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. The Blue Ridge Parkway offers a scenic mountain drive, with stops such as Humpback Rocks, while the Virginia 250 Passport can help travelers find historic attractions and special offers. VDOT’s free updated state transportation map is available online, at welcome centers and safety rest areas, and through the Virginia Tourism Corporation as a backup when phone navigation is unavailable. Drivers are urged to use designated pull-offs rather than stopping on roadways to view foliage, watch for wildlife and pedestrians, slow down on winding or leaf-covered roads, and check their vehicles before traveling.
