Veterans return from Honor Flights nationwide
Veterans from several U.S. communities returned from Honor Flight trips to Washington, D.C., where they visited memorials honoring those who served. Family members and community supporters welcomed returning groups in Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Alaska and Western New York, with bagpipes, flags and cheering crowds. South Dakota veterans, including Vietnam-era service members who recalled receiving little recognition when they returned from service, described the reception as emotional and deeply meaningful. The trips and homecomings are organized to honor veterans’ service and sacrifice, while a South Plains group was also expected to return to a community welcome in Lubbock.
