Jessica Tarlov Accuses Trump of Lying on $5k Checks in Fox Debate
A Democrats YouTube channel posted a clip of the Fox co-host in debate over the president’s five thousand dollar dividends after she earlier called the offer a bribe.

A YouTube channel called The Democrats posted a video on October 6, 2026, under the title "Jessica Tarlov gets in heated debate on Fox: Trump is LYING about these $5k checks."
The channel’s own description identifies the poster as the Democratic Party and states it is “fighting for a brighter, more equal future.” It tells viewers to get involved by texting GOTV to 43367 or going to democrats.org. IJR News listed the same title, channel and date when it carried the clip. That title supplies the only account either source gives of the exchange itself.
Tarlov had already framed the $5,000 figure in public weeks earlier. On September 14, 2026, she posted on X, American Wire News reported the next day in a piece by Sierra Marlee. “Remember when the GOP platform was mass deportations, no endless wars, release the Epstein files? Now it’s ‘here’s $5000 to be my friend.’ Trump himself all but admitted it’s an enticement. When a man tries that hard to buy your affection, that’s not a dividend, that’s a bribe. And it will outlive every banana hammock clip from this convention,” she wrote.
President Donald Trump has promised Americans $5,000 “dividends.” American Wire News placed Tarlov with critics who call the pledge a bribe ahead of elections. Supporters, the outlet wrote, argue that returning taxpayer money would help stimulate the economy.
X users answered her post with the reverse charge. One reply quoted by American Wire News called the offer “brilliant” and said Democrats had been “buying votes for years.” Another listed free healthcare, free college, debt forgiveness and more as the left’s own menu. “Your side taught us well…free healthcare, free college, free daycare, free phone, etc.,” a third user wrote, per the same article. Several responses drew a distinction between returning money to taxpayers and promising free services paid for by others.
Tarlov is a rotating co-host of Fox News’s The Five. The show premiered in 2011 and airs live weekdays at 5 p.m. ET with daily hosts Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, Jesse Watters and Emily Compagno; Tarlov and former congressman Harold Ford Jr. alternate in the remaining seat. She is a Democratic political strategist, born March 9, 1984, and raised in Tribeca. She earned a history degree from Bryn Mawr College and later a master’s in public policy, a master’s in research and a doctorate in political science from the London School of Economics. Her dissertation examined how scandals affected electoral outcomes for members of parliament. She worked on Boris Johnson’s 2008 London mayoral campaign, served as a research assistant to analyst Douglas Schoen, and first appeared on Fox News in 2014. The network named her a contributor in 2017 and a co-host in January 2022. In October 2024 she told The New York Times her aim was to offer “a reasonable and data-driven representative of the left.” She is vice president of research and consumer insights at Bustle Digital Group. In 2026 she published the book I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends.
