Cities, States Invite Students to Name Snowplows
Cities and states are inviting students to name snowplows for the coming winter seasons, combining creative contests with lessons about public works and road safety. Worcester’s contest is open to K–12 public-school classes, with the public voting on names for four trucks; winning classrooms will meet their named plows. Vermont is reopening its statewide contest to students from public and private schools and homeschoolers, while Boulder invites students from pre-K through university to name 17 plows. In Idaho, students in grades 6–12 can submit names for 12 regional plows, with winners selected by transportation department employees and classrooms receiving a visit focused on winter driving safety.
