Texas State Fair Fire Damages Game Stand

A fire broke out around 7 a.m. Tuesday at a balloon-pop game booth on the State Fair of Texas Midway near the greenhouse, causing significant damage. Dallas Fire-Rescue contained the blaze and declared it out by 7:26 a.m., then worked to extinguish hot spots among stuffed-animal prizes. The fair was closed when the fire began, and no injuries were reported. Fire officials attributed the fire to an electrical short, though some initial coverage said the cause was still under investigation. The fair was expected to open as scheduled at 10 a.m., while the affected Midway area would be cordoned off as crews assessed the damage.
