Brooklyn Man Dies After Being Dragged by a Train
Yaw Boahene, 57, died after being dragged from an A train at Brooklyn’s Utica Avenue station during the evening commute. Initial accounts said his shopping bag became trapped as he exited, but the MTA says camera footage does not show precisely how he became entangled and has not confirmed the bag was responsible. The MTA removed the train’s conductor and operator from service while authorities investigate, and the National Transportation Safety Board sent a team to examine the incident. Officials said the train had no identified mechanical problems; investigators are assessing how the doors closed and whether safety procedures were followed.
