Columbus Shootings Leave Three Dead, Several Injured
A series of shootings in Columbus left at least three people dead and several others injured. In the early hours of Oct. 4, a shooting on the 900 block of Barnett Road killed 39-year-old Jeffrey Scott Amaker and critically injured another person. Police say the victims and a suspect had been involved in a fight in a business parking lot before the suspect opened fire and fled in a gray or silver four-door car with a rear spoiler and damage to its passenger-side rear bumper; the suspect was described as a short Black man with short hair, wearing black clothing and a sweatshirt marked “Think.” Later that night, a separate shooting on Seabrook Avenue killed one person and injured another, whose condition was reported as unstable. A Sunday afternoon East Side shooting sent two people to hospitals in stable condition, and an Oct. 6 shooting in the Hilltop area left one person dead. Investigators are seeking information and video footage related to the Barnett Road shooting.
