MLB Plans 2027 Season Amid Ongoing Talks
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred expressed confidence that the 2027 season will be played as owners and the players’ union continue high-stakes negotiations before the December CBA expiration, warning of a possible lockout if no agreement is reached. The dispute centers on a salary-cap framework—with owners seeking a hard cap around $245.3 million and a $171.2 million floor, while the players push back with alternatives like a competitive integrity tax, alongside negotiations over service time, the international draft and TV revenue, with the 2027 All-Star Game slated for Wrigley Field.
