Saxony-Anhalt

state of Germany

In brief

Ulrich Siegmund, the AfD’s likely leader in Saxony-Anhalt, floated allowing a weapons producer to operate in the state to fund his party’s planned deportation campaigns, linking arms production to internal security and national defence. The plan involves a potential Elbit Systems facility in Sangerhausen, though officials say it would not produce complete weapons and legal/political obstacles remain amid opposition from other parties.
