Cubs Reinstate Cabrera from IL to Bolster Bullpen, Thornton Placed on List
The Chicago Cubs activated right-hander Edward Cabrera from the 15-day injured list and moved Trent Thornton to the 15-day IL with a left ankle sprain, moving Cabrera to the bullpen for the rest of the season and potentially postseason help. Cabrera, who has a 5.68 ERA across 76 innings this year and has battled multiple injuries, will be used in low-leverage relief as the Cubs continue to manage a pitching-strapped roster.
