Israeli settlers diverted water from a spring serving the Palestinian village of Fasayil to fill a nearby ancient pool promoted as a tourist attraction, damaging Palestinian farmland. The land is reported to be privately owned, and Israel’s COGAT agency acknowledged the diversion was unauthorized and said it would investigate, amid broader efforts to control West Bank springs and heritage sites.
UN Human Rights Office added 61 companies to its Israeli settlements database on Sept. 25, 2026, bringing the total to 214 firms from 11 countries.
"They are uprooting, and we will plant again with the help of God," a Deir Nidham farmer said after bulldozers cleared nearly nine acres of olive trees days before harvest.
