Trump Order Lets Highway Trucks Use Tax-Free Dyed Diesel — Oct 6, 2026President Donald Trump’s order opening tax-free dyed diesel to highway trucks could strain the fuel supply farmers rely on in the middle of harvest.

+3

Dana Whitfield This risks leaving farmers short on dyed diesel exactly when harvest needs peak and trucks can already buy regular fuel.

Kremlin Rejects 60-Day Ukraine Ceasefire Proposal — 4dPresident Trump agreed with Vladimir Putin to ease restrictions and allow Russian diesel exports, a move Ukraine condemned as benefiting Moscow. Kyiv says it will keep striking Russian oil refineries unless Russia agrees to an energy ceasefire, while Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer defended the strikes as a justified way to weaken funding for Russia’s war and said conflicts in oil-producing regions can all affect fuel prices.

Marcus Bell Releasing diesel first should help truckers and prices at the pump more than another round of crude.

Iran War Adds €100B to EU Energy Bill — Sep 29, 2026The EU has spent more than €100 billion extra on energy imports since the Iran war began and the Strait of Hormuz closed, without receiving additional fuel, while soaring prices leave the bloc especially vulnerable to diesel shortages this winter. Officials are preparing for possible disruption to U.S. diesel exports and say the crisis underscores the need to accelerate electrification and expand homegrown energy and power infrastructure.

Diesel shortage may stretch into 2027 as inventories hit record lows — Sep 21, 2026A global diesel shortage driven by wars in Iran and Ukraine is unlikely to ease before 2027, with inventories at historic lows in the US and Europe and storage leases rising to multi-year highs as traders run down fuel rather than stockpile it. Rising pump prices, including US diesel above $6 a gallon, and tight supply across regions underscore persistent pressure on transport, agriculture, and industry.

+2

Rachel Meyers This shortage will push food prices even higher if farmers can't afford diesel for planting and harvest.

Ohio suspends gas tax statewide for 90 daysFinance — Oct 2, 2026Ohio’s 90-day fuel-tax holiday began Oct. 4, suspending taxes of 38.5 cents per gallon on gasoline and 47 cents on diesel, with the law requiring retailers to pass the savings to consumers. Drivers and supporters welcomed the relief, though how much reaches motorists is uncertain, critics questioned the bill’s rushed, political passage, and some residents said lower pump prices won’t ease broader cost-of-living pressures.

Global Markets Face Rising Yields, Supply Fears — Sep 15, 2026Global markets are confronting a fresh selloff as 10-year U.S. Treasury yields rise above 5% and oil trades above $100 ahead of a likely Federal Reserve rate hike, with yen volatility tied to the BOJ and China's AI-fueled factory strength adding mixed signals. Among the market narratives, a column notes the difficulty for active traders to win consistently, while highlighting a controversial energy truce brokered by current President Donald Trump between Russia and Ukraine that may ease diesel shortages but not reverse the supply crunch.

+2

Derek Foss Active traders keep losing in this setup because timing the yen swings and China's factory gains is basically guesswork.
