26 Cats Found Sealed in Birmingham Alley Boxes
A passerby found 26 cats and kittens sealed in plastic boxes and carriers beside rubbish in a Birmingham alley on September 30, with several lethargic and struggling to breathe. The finder moved many into carriers and contacted the RSPCA; two cats were treated for flea infestations, anemia and dehydration and are improving, while the other 24 are recovering in the charity’s care. The RSPCA is reviewing nearby CCTV footage as part of its investigation, and the animals will be rehomed when ready. The discovery came amid a sharp rise in large-scale cat cases, which the RSPCA says is putting heavy pressure on its resources.
