Akron Police Identify Fatal Hit-and-Run Person of Interest

Akron police have identified an unnamed person of interest in the fatal hit-and-run that killed 38-year-old Jesse McCool. McCool was struck by a southbound vehicle while crossing South Main Street near East Miller Avenue on Sept. 26 and died the following day; the driver fled without stopping. Investigators used Flock camera footage to identify and recover a tan Cadillac SRX believed to be involved, and the vehicle is being processed. Police are working with the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office to determine potential charges; no arrest or charges had been announced.
