Lincoln Man Shot in Head; Suspect Held

A 32-year-old man was shot in the head near 13th and C streets in Lincoln's Everett neighborhood around 11 a.m. Monday. The bullet did not penetrate his skull, and his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. Police arrived within minutes and took 38-year-old Stanley Murray into custody about 10 minutes later. He was booked on suspicion of second-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony. Officers recovered a firearm from a storm drain and reported a trail of blood leading from a nearby apartment, which they planned to investigate. Everett Elementary, one block away, briefly went into secure mode while students and staff remained inside and classes continued. Some nearby residents said the shooting heightened longstanding concerns about violence and crime in the area. No factual disputes between outlets were identified. Rated coverage was left and center only, with no right-rated outlets. The blood-trail investigation and full circumstances of the shooting were not further detailed in the record.
