Communities plan fall movie events
Several communities are offering movie events in October, ranging from free family activities to low-cost and accessible screenings. In Billings, the Babcock Theatre is scheduled to reopen October 16 after repairs following a ceiling collapse, with classic-film screenings through October 18 and upgrades including a new ceiling and wider balcony aisles. Liberal’s free Autumn at Arkalon event on October 17 pairs a family Halloween movie with pumpkin painting, hayrides and other activities, while Roanoke County’s October 14 Adult All Abilities Club movie session will show Hocus Pocus and offer alternate activities based on participants’ needs. Kirkcaldy’s community cinema plans an October 12 screening of The Addams Family, with refreshments, costume prizes and inexpensive tickets; the program received funding to provide low-cost or free screenings for underserved communities. Anza Library also advertises a free family movie afternoon, with a clue pointing to a film featuring a cowardly dog and his best friend facing a Goblin King.
