Flanagan Unveils First Exorcist: Martyrs Trailer

Mike Flanagan has unveiled the first trailer for The Exorcist: Martyrs, a standalone film starring Scarlett Johansson as a homicide detective investigating murders with apparent supernatural ties. The investigation connects her to a serial killer she previously stopped, a former prison chaplain played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and an ancient evil said to link notorious killers across generations. John Leguizamo, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane also star. Flanagan says the film takes the franchise in a different direction, will not continue 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer, and will not feature the iconic “Tubular Bells” motif; he has cited The Exorcist III as an influence. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on March 12, 2027.
