Flint Councilman Faces Fourth Assault Trial Delay

The felony assault and domestic violence trial of Flint City Councilman Leon El-Alamin has been delayed again after his attorney reported a scheduling conflict. The trial, originally set for Oct. 14, is now scheduled for Nov. 12, after the Nov. 3 election; it is the fourth postponement. El-Alamin is accused of assaulting and choking a woman in July 2025 and has denied the allegations. He also faces a separate election-law case over claims that he falsely listed a Flint address on a 2024 city council affidavit.
