Flock Camera Vandalism Reported Across Two States
Vandalism of Flock license-plate cameras has been reported in several communities as the devices face growing scrutiny over privacy and surveillance. In Spartanburg County, eight cameras were damaged or knocked down in Boiling Springs, and four suspects—including three juveniles—were charged with malicious injury to property; if convicted, they could owe restitution. Officials said replacement costs can reach thousands of dollars, while the sheriff’s office maintains the cameras have not been misused locally and have helped solve crimes. Other Upstate communities have also reported damage, even as Oconee County has voted to ban the cameras. In Columbia, Missouri, police records documented at least seven vandalism reports, though the department withheld locations and suspect details.
