Hardywood Acquires Starr Hill, Uniting Virginia’s Largest Breweries

Richmond-based Hardywood Park Craft Brewery has acquired Charlottesville-area Starr Hill Brewery in an all-equity deal that closed Oct. 1, bringing Virginia’s two largest craft brewers by volume under shared ownership. Starr Hill’s owners receive a minority stake in Hardywood, while Starr Hill’s brand, leadership and employees are expected to remain in place. Both breweries will continue operating their existing brewing facilities and taprooms, and leaders say the combination will support investment and new offerings, including special releases at taprooms.
